I’m on the steering committee for ELMLE, a conference for middle School educators. Our 2021 conference was meant to be held in Malta (though of course this has now had to be transformed into a virtual conference).
Instead of coming up with our Malta logo ourselves, we decided to have students design logos in a competition and choose from those.
Happily, an ISP 8th grader, Chris, won! In March, I sent MS Art Teacher Petr Dimitrov the details of the competition and he offered it to his students as an assignment option. They had design specs, including our ELMLE colors, and a brief.
The designs were turned in last month and voted on “blindly” by the steering committee in our last meeting. As the winner, Chris will get an Amazon gift card and got to choose a teacher to receive a free ELMLE pre-conference registration for our next on-site event. His logo will be used on all ELMLE 2021 publications, stationary, mailings, etc.
Just thought I’d share!
