Overall Purpose of the Position

The STEM Coordinator is a pedagogical leader who supports ISP’s Mission, Vision, Strategy and educational aims through the development and implementation of STEM programmes. The coordinator will lead the development of the STEM strategic plan, and the planning for programming and systems in the new ISP Design & Innovation Centre planned for opening in 2026. The coordinator will also facilitate the expansion of existing STEM curriculum opportunities schoolwide. The STEM coordinator will have a partial teaching load, teaching STEM related electives, and core subjects where needed. The position works closely with Curriculum Level Leaders (CLLs), Sectional Coaches/Coordinators, and the Educational Leadership team including principals.

Key Responsibilities

The key areas of focus for this position include: 

  • Supporting the development of the Schoolwide STEM plan
  • Collaborate cross departmentally on STEM initiatives school wide as part of the school’s curriculum and the use of STEM in classrooms. 
  • Leading the development of new offerings and programmes specifically in STEM and applied STEM disciplines
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the STEM plan, including management of resources and professional learning
  • Providing suggestions on curriculum or course adjustments for alignment schoolwide
  • To enhance knowledge and understanding of STEM subjects with real world context and associated careers through inspiring and creative STEM engagement, visits, speakers and clubs
  • Develop, organise, coordinate and provide trainings for administrators and staff related to STEM best practices, NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), and STEM focused project based learning.
  • Support Learning Coaches and Learning Collaborative meetings in the area of STEM. 
  • Create educational STEM opportunities for students through community outreach and business partnerships
  • Supporting Professional Learning for staff in conjunction with the Professional Learning Department and the Educational Technology Coordinator.
  • Work as a team with other members of the Innovation hub (librarians, design technology integration specialists) 
  • Evaluate, design and monitor policies to promote gender equality in STEM.
  • Support the collection of STEM related data for the new ISP Data dashboard 
  • Support the practices aligned to ISP Learning Principles & IB Approaches to Teaching & Learning
  • Liaise with the Advancement Office to capture and share learning stories that reflect our educational aims and aspirations
  • Part-time teaching role of selected STEM related elective classes 
  • Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director.

Education & Training Preferred

  • Three or more years of experience in a STEM position 
  • Experience in the implementation of Strategic plans
  • Experience in the working in Professional Learning Communities 
  • A knowledge of the Toddle VLE system is an advantage
