SECURITY & SAFETY SUPERVISOR

General description:
To maintain and further develop a safe and secure environment for students, their parents, school employees and other community members by establishing and enforcing security policies and procedures in order to preserve an environment where people and property are safe and well protected.
The Security & Safety Supervisor will demonstrate excellent surveillance and emergency response skills, will value and show strong commitment to security rules and procedures, and will be knowledgeable of the wide variety of potential hazards and threats to safety. In recognition of the number of people under your responsibility, the Security & Safety Supervisor must also exhibit strong leadership skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively as a member of the ISP’s Community in realizing ISP’s Mission;
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the team responsible for security/custodial/watchman activities to safeguard ISP’s students, employees, guests, both on the school campus as well as for other school assets located elsewhere.
- Proactively pursue preventive security measures as a part of a program of continuous improvement of ISP security standards, and research, form, present and recommend proposals for security improvements (e.g. implementation of new technologies).
- Develop and implement security policies, protocols and procedures, including emergency response procedures.
- Supervise subordinates, performing activities such as hiring, training, assigning work and shifts, granting holiday leave, evaluating performance, or disciplining.
- Ensure the smooth operation of relevant technology and technical support systems and equipment (EPS, EZS, ACS, CCTV, etc) in the building and on campus
- Prevent access of unauthorized groups and individuals onto the campus and in the building.
- Enforce general safety and specific school safety policies (e.g., prohibition of smoking and drinking on campus, safe driving and parking, etc.). Advise on improvements to such policies.
- Manage response mechanisms to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, following emergency response procedures. Advise on improvements to such procedures.
- Manage the performance of regular patrols within the ISP campus and secure smooth operation of the parking lot.
- Coordinate security operations or activities with public police, fire and other agencies. Maintain and improve relationships with relevant authorities (police, etc).
- Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms.
- Manage reporting mechanisms and review reports on incidents and breaches.
- Assist in emergency management and contingency planning.
- Conduct physical examinations of property to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, skills and dispositions required:
- Fluency in Czech and English (daily contact with representatives of over 60 nationalities).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work in flexible hours - including weekend shifts.
- Good physical condition and stress resistance.
- Clear Crime Register record.
- Proficiency in people management.
- Knowledge of appropriate security technology, protocols & procedures, security environments and hazards.
- Patient, proactive, committed and reliable personality.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to cope with technical problems.
Experience and education required:
- Previous working experience within Police, Army, or other relevant security services.
- High school diploma; Further education in security administration or similar field will be an asset.
- PC - general user knowledge.
- Experience in emergency response planning.
