The overall purpose of the position:

This role involves teaching Upper School (Grades 9-12) DP Business Management and MYP Individuals and Societies in alignment with DP and MYP criteria. This position involves planning and facilitating inspiring, engaging, and empowering learning engagements that move all learners forward through relevant and rich issues. Co-planning and co-teaching with colleagues, in addition to clearly communicating with parents, is a central piece of this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate engaging, relevant, and authentic DP Business Management and MYP Individual and Societies learning engagements.
  • Nurture students’ DP Business Management and MYP Individual and Societies curiosity and competencies.
  • Develop & plan classes following a backward design curriculum planning process and in alignment with the Learning@ISP, DP Business Management, and MYP Individual and Societies departmental philosophy and ISP mission.
  • Facilitate a balanced array of learning experiences that meet the students’ where they’re at and move them forward in developing skills, concepts, and understandings.
  • Create & maintain a positive, student-centered environment that maximizes learning opportunities for all learners.
  • Develop and plan classes following the MYP/DP curriculum planning process and in alignment with the ISP mission and Learning Principles.
  • Establish  & maintain a comprehensive, differentiated, and balanced array of learning experiences, which further develop students’ skills, concepts, and understandings.
  • Effectively assess and document students’ learning growth based on DP Business Management and MYP Individual and Societies criteria and IB 2020 Standards & Practices.
  • Be an active partner in building & sustaining trusting relationships with other colleagues.
  • Integrate IT in classroom instruction as a tool to support student learning.
  • Actively participate & lead in professional development opportunities and collaborative meetings.
  • Support the holistic development of students as an advisor and as a supervisor of student clubs and activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • A growth mindset and open-minded approach to professional learning - a life-long learner.
  • International / multicultural teaching experience.
  • Flexible, can-do attitude, innovative and solutions-focused.
  • A high level of intra & interpersonal intelligence and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Education and training preferred:

  • BA (MA preferred) degree in Social Studies or a related field of study.
  • Teaching certification for secondary education.
  • Proven track record in teaching IB DP Business Management and MYP Individual and Societies to Upper School-age students.
