General description:

The Accountant Assistant provides appropriate financial and administrative support by ensuring per diems and the cash register transactions are controlled, processed and verified according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of cash register and other valuables 
  • Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
  • Processing cash documents within a timely manner and in accordance with procedures
  • Charge expenses and related VAT to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries.
  • Processing of per diem requests and communicating with HR office and employees
  • Assist in month-end closing
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Assist with other projects and activities as needed
  • Update procedures based on changes in the legislation or the needs of the School
  • Represent the accounts and their processes to the School auditors

Knowledge, skills and dispositions required:

  • Basic knowledge of local accounting principles, tax policies, regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Computer skills: Knowledge of accounting system software (K2 and others), MS Office
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Czech  
  • Team player, able to work with colleagues across the organisation
  • Good time management and prioritization skills
  • Well-organized and structured/systematic approach to work
  • Proactive attitude and positive 'can do' approach

Experience and education required:

  • Graduation degree in economic or finance from a respected institution
  • Accounting background and proven experience
