Theatre

At ISP, Theatre serves as a dynamic platform for students to explore theatrical expression, develop confidence in public speaking, and foster cultural understanding through diverse performances and collaborative productions.

While our formal Theatre programme is introduced in Middle School, there are opportunities for students in Elementary School to experience the magic of performing arts, such as the Grade 4 and 5 Musical, offered as an afterschool activity.

In Middle School, Theatre is part of the curriculum. The purpose of ISP’s MYP Theatre programme is to engage and challenge learners, maximising their performance and presentation skills while engendering enjoyment of theatre through accessible and significant experiences.

The Upper School,  MYP Theatre is part of the elective programme, offering such courses as Introduction to Theatre, Stage Design and Fashion and Sewing.

The Upper School IB Diploma Programme Theatre course is a dynamic, collaborative and live art form. This course is a practical subject that encourages discovery through experimentation, the taking of risks and presentation of ideas to others. It results in the development of both theatre and life skills; the building of confidence, creativity and working collaboratively. This course gives students the opportunity to make theatre as creators, designers, directors and performers. Students will also learn to apply research and theory to inform and contextualise their own work. Students will study theatre practices and works from a variety of geographical, historical and social contexts, as well as create and present original work.
