Two Unforgettable Journeys Down Flaming Tree Grove

Two Unforgettable Journeys Down Flaming Tree Grove

Over the past two weeks, the Main Theatre at ISP was transformed into the haunting, fractured suburbia of Flaming Tree Grove, as our MYP4/5 students took audiences on two unforgettable journeys through Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron. Each production—featuring two distinct casts of talented, and in some cases first-time, upper school performers—brought fresh perspectives to this chilling, poetic, and darkly comic tale.

At its core, Ruby Moon is a meditation on grief, paranoia, and fractured realities—an emotional terrain that our student artists bravely navigated. Through creative risk-taking, vulnerability, and deep ensemble work, they delivered performances that left audiences both spellbound and unsettled, prompting lingering questions about what lies beneath the surface of ordinary lives.

“It was difficult to step into such a complex character and comprehend what she’s going through, but I fell in love with Sylvie’s authentic imperfections and it was exciting to explore her emotional arc.”

Joy, Grade 10 (who portrayed one of the Sylvie Moon leads)

Behind the scenes, a dedicated crew ensured the world of Flaming Tree Grove came alive with precision and imagination. From carefully choreographed scene changes to immersive lighting and eerie original soundscapes, every element of these productions was the result of collaborative artistry.

“Ruby Moon made me think about the search for truth. It made me question how far we would go to find answers, and whether closure is ever truly possible.”
