Celebrating Neurodiversity Week at ISP

Celebrating Neurodiversity Week at ISP

This past month, ISP celebrated Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a global initiative dedicated to challenging stereotypes and transforming how we understand neurological differences.

The Neurodiversity Week featured engaging workshops and activities designed to build foundational knowledge and strengthen our shared sense of belonging from faculty and staff to students in Elementary, Middle, and Upper School.

A highlight of the week was the leadership shown by several Grade 11 students and one Grade 10 student in the Career-related Programme, who facilitated a student panel as part of their service learning. Balancing their academic work with university-level studies in subjects such as psychology and art, these students used their knowledge and experiences to lead meaningful conversations with their peers. Their leadership demonstrated how ISP learners are becoming true changemakers, advocating for a more inclusive and respectful world.

“We wanted to bring awareness and normalcy to this topic and it was nice to see other students so engaged. They even asked follow up questions after the panel on what the next step would be for them.”

ISP also welcomed a familiar face back to campus, Siun Prochazka, a former staff member and local ADHD and autism coach. Having worked at ISP nearly a decade ago as a personal learning assistant, Siun brought informative insight to the whole ISP community. She held a deeply impactful session for our parents, sharing her expertise and helping to bridge the connection between home and school support.

Drawing from her own experiences as both a student and a neurodiversity coach, Siun shares in her TEDxTalk@ISPrague that these challenges are not personal failings, but identifiable differences that shape how individuals learn, work, and experience the world.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week was ultimately defined by a strong sense of belonging, giving students a platform to lead and share new perspectives. From a thoughtful, student-led panel to meaningful discussions across our parent and student community, the week truly deepened our collective understanding of neurodiversity.

At the International School of Prague, every learner brings a unique perspective to our community. This week was a powerful reflection of our commitment to fostering a culture of curiosity, compassion, and competence. Through a range of workshops and conversations, the goal was to celebrate differences, empower every learner, and contribute to a more peaceful world grounded in understanding and respect.

“We were happy to shed light on this week and bring an understanding to neurodivergence.”
