ISP Middle School Students Shine at Solutionary Summit in Munich
Our ISP mission came to life recently when a group of our Middle School students had the incredible opportunity to participate in the three-day Solutionary Summit in Munich, supported by the ISP Fund.
Joining peers from over 20 international schools, they tackled the pressing task of devising solutions for local and global issues while exploring the profound impact of sustainable change-making.
Throughout the summit, ISP students engaged in a series of dynamic Changemaker workshops. These sessions covered a diverse range of topics, from facilitating change and understanding the connection between brain science and service to leveraging modern storytelling as a powerful tool for driving social change. The workshops provided our students with practical skills and new perspectives on how to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
“The Solutionary Summit inspired me to make a change in my community. Related to SDG, Life on Land, my changemaker goal is to organise a meaningful Earth Day next year.”
Mille, Grade 7
The students also attended the Docathon Film ceremony, where they were inspired by award-winning student documentaries that highlighted innovative solutions to various global challenges. Additionally, they participated in a hunger banquet simulation, which gave them a firsthand understanding of global inequalities and food distribution issues. Using the Sustainability Compass, they learned to design practical and impactful solutions for these global problems.
“I enjoyed the opening and closing ceremony speeches because it was interesting to hear other kids our age talk about the change they caused. The Solutionary Summit inspired me to see age as just a number, and not as something that will hold me back”
Rae, Grade 6
The weekend was a blend of new learning, collaboration, and fun, offering our students a unique opportunity to grow as changemakers.
“It was a pleasure to attend the Solutionary Summit with our ISP students. For me, learning from and alongside changemakers from around the region was an absolute highlight. We returned inspired and eager to share our new knowledge with others. In fact, to support our students as they seek to take positive action, I have committed to launching a MS Changemakers Club in the fall. We look forward to returning to the Solutionary Summit next year!”
Jenny Snively, Grade 6 Literacy and Individuals and Society teacher
We are incredibly proud of our students for their deep engagement in changemaker initiatives and their vision for sustainable solutions within the ISP community and beyond. Their experiences at the Solutionary Summit have not only enriched their understanding but also empowered them to become proactive agents of change.
