Elementary Wonder Lab: A Creative Space to Explore STEM

As part of its commitment to hands-on learning, ISP has also developed a new space for Elementary students called the Wonder Lab. This is a dedicated area designed to encourage creativity, exploration, and scientific inquiry.

Our new dedicated Wonder Lab is equipped with robots, sensors, and new equipment, such as a laser cutter, and engaging resources are regularly added. Inspired by the Idea Lab and other creative design tech spaces in the school, the Wonder Lab is designed and equipped with our youngest learners in mind.

The Wonder Lab’s mission is to provide Elementary students with a space where they can experiment with technology, design, and engineering. This year, Grades 3, 4, and 5 have scheduled tech classes in this new space. In these classes, students will engage with robotics, coding, and other STEM-related activities. The space is continually evolving to create a flexible, hands-on learning environment that fosters curiosity and teamwork.

ISP's use of these technologies is part of a broader trend to integrate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) into the curriculum from an early age. Through these engaging tools and spaces, students are learning valuable skills that will help them thrive in the digital age.

Equipped with creative media-making tools to empower digital storytellers, like the Tale-Bot and Cubetto robots, as well as science equipment such as our new Labdisc sensors for real-world science experiments, the Wonder Lab fosters creativity, hands-on learning, and innovation. 

By offering students the opportunity to build, program, and experiment with advanced technology, this inspiring space helps cultivate not only technical skills but also the critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities that are vital for success in the digital age.
