The PYPx Journey: From Inquiry to Exhibition

Six students. One journey. Countless discoveries.

The Grade 5 PYP Exhibition (PYPx) is the culminating event of the Primary Years Programme - a chance for students to showcase their learning, passions, and actions as they prepare to transition into the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

“What makes the Exhibition so powerful is that students bring together everything they’ve learned over their Primary Years and apply it to something deeply personal. It’s inspiring to see their curiosity transform into meaningful action.” – Ashley Eames, PYP Coordinator

Each student begins by identifying a topic of personal interest, connecting it to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and conducting in-depth research. With the guidance of teachers and mentors, they refine questions, evaluate reliable sources, and develop actions that bring positive change to people, communities, and the environment.

“I think I grew in being open-minded and respecting other people’s opinions when I was talking with mentors and teachers.” – PYPx Student

The range of projects this year was as diverse as the students themselves: from exploring racism in sport and video game addiction, to raising awareness about the use of animal fur in fashion, or experimenting with sustainable solutions such as vertical farming. Some even ventured into innovative ideas such as coding a health-based chatbot or creating guides to help others take meaningful action.

“I’m most proud of how I persevered through the tough times and stayed calm. That helped me keep going and finish strong.” – PYPx Student

Throughout the process, students reflected not only on their chosen topics but also on their own growth as learners. They highlighted skills such as perseverance, organisation, collaboration, and open-mindedness.

The PYPx is more than an exhibition — it is a celebration of voice, choice, and action, embodying ISP’s mission to nurture Curious, Competent, Compassionate Changemakers.
