Celebrating the Instrument and Band Programme at ISP
The Instrument and Band programme is a celebrated aspect of ISP. Integrated throughout our school sections, students have the opportunity to pursue the musical arts from Upper Elementary School through to Upper School, with a particular emphasis during the Middle School years.

Playing in a band is an incredible experience. It not only involves learning how to play an instrument but also mastering the art of playing with others, developing resilience, and engaging in creative collaboration. At ISP, we prioritise these skills and recognise the immense value that musical arts experiences bring to our students.
"Music is one of the few things completely unique to human beings; a form of expression that surpasses where normal communication fails. Being involved in music is a life-changing experience. Learning to play an instrument helps your brain develop better memory skills, fine motor skills, and verbal/nonverbal reasoning. Not only that, but instead of competing, we work together to lift each other up. An outstanding Band programme doesn’t have one person in charge but rather a group of musicians ready to support one another and make music.”

For Middle School students interested in exploring band, we offer two pathways: the Rookie Band for budding musicians and the Concert Band for more experienced players. These bands are scheduled simultaneously, ensuring that all students' needs are met as they grow and develop throughout the year. Students have numerous opportunities to perform, gaining valuable stage experience and the thrill of live performance.

We know that when a child begins their musical journey early on, they are presented with a unique advantage. Playing an instrument requires discipline, dedication, and patience, and starting at a young age helps instil these qualities. For this reason, we offer Band as an after-school activity in Elementary School as a precursor to the Middle School Band programme.

By being part of a band, young musicians gain valuable collaborative and performance experiences, broaden their musical horizons, and lay the foundation for future success. We are fortunate at ISP to have an incredible team of music teachers supporting our young musicians as they learn, experiment and play.
The ISP Instrument and Band programme truly nurtures our students' musical talents, helping them develop as musicians and individuals. We look forward to continuing to inspire and engage the next generation of musicians through our comprehensive and enriching music programme.
