The regional final of the 15th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for secondary school students in Czech Republic took place on June 1st. The Chinese Bridge Competition for Foreign Students is the world’s largest Chinese language and culture competition, held worldwide since 2001 with three different age groups. This year is the first year it was offered in the Czech Republic for secondary school students. Four Mandarin students from ISP, after one month of intensive preparation, competed in Chinese language proficiency as well as in mastering cultural tasks.

This year’s competition was organized with the theme “Fly High with Chinese.” During the final round of the competition, a total of 11 finalists from schools across the Czech Republic showcased their skills in Chinese language and culture through speeches, quizzes, and talent performances.
The three regional winners are all 11th graders from ISP’s IB Chinese B class, taught by Ms. Daisy Mi. The region’s first prize went to Martin, Grade 11, and he will represent the Czech Republic in the “Chinese Bridge” global final for secondary students later this year. Delanie, Grade 11, scored second, while Eldar, Grade 11, took third place. Congratulations to all the students and to Ms. Mi, for representing ISP so well.
