Despite not being physically not being able to be in their natural habitat for now, Elementary and Early Childhood librarians have been busy keeping younger students engaged and continuing to promote a love of reading remotely.

Both Ms. Tara and Ms. Sandra have continued to make sure they lead story time using Zoom, which as Ms. Sandra said, “has been great and luckily I took plenty of books home!”

Elementary Students and their “shelfies” of their current reading choices

Ms. Tara has started story time with various activities, including songs and ‘show and tell’ with some of the students’ favourite items before launching into story time! Ms. Tara also works closely with Grade Teachers to ensure that students are engaged and connected, and has also worked to ensure that many of the ISP library’s services continue to be accessed online!

As one parent posted on the ISP Lennon Wall of Positive Vibes about Ms. Sandra:

“The kids absolutely live for your ZOOM sessions. They laugh, giggle, are involved, and just thoroughly enjoy their time with you. You are an amazing teacher. Keep up the awesome job!”
