The information provided below is very important. If you can't find the answers to your questions on our website, or if anything isn't clear, please don't hesitate to email or call us.

Admissions

The International School of Prague (guided by its desire to achieve its Missionstrives for a student population that  benefits every child.

Admission is therefore based on the potential of the student to benefit from an ISP education, the capacity of the School, and the desire for balance and diversity in classes (this includes factors such as nationality, need for English-language support, need for learning support, etc).

Acceptance & Placement

The application process can be completed entirely online, and is relatively straightforward - to get started, click on the appropriate pull-down menu below; you will find answers to frequently asked questions, an idea of the materials that you will need to provide when completing the online application, and the link to the online application.

August Admission

While the application process is straightforward, our placement for August admission requires some explanation.

We realize that receiving an answer as quickly as possible is of utmost importance. However, our current parents have until the end of March to let us know if they will be returning to ISP. It is only at that point that we know how many spaces will be available in each class. We therefore cannot give confirmation of placement until that time. We realize that this can be inconvenient for many parents, but we hope that you understand the rationale behind the timing.

Please aim to complete (not just start) your application before the beginning of March; this will give us the necessary time to review the application before class placement starts at the beginning of April. Regardless of when you complete the application, within three weeks (sometimes earlier) of the completion of the online application and the payment of the application fee, parents/guardians will receive a response from ISP; applicants are either admissible, not admissible, or continued for further review.

Completed applications that are deemed admissible before class placement starts at the beginning of April will be considered in this initial placement of students.

Completed applications that are deemed admissible after class placement starts at the beginning of April will be considered on a case by case basis as availability (and class composition) allows.

Mid-Year Admission

If you are applying for immediate admission during the current school year (in other words, not for the beginning of the next school year in August), acceptance and admission usually take place at the same time.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Please note that an application that has been deemed "admissible" for August admission does not guarantee a spot for the child. In early April, class sizes are assessed, and admissible applicants are placed (based on the desire for balance and diversity in classes (this includes factors such as nationality, need for English-language support, need for learning support, etc)). Notices of placement are then sent to those students. If a class is full, applications that were approved but not placed are put into a waiting pool (at the request of the parents).

Finally, we are often asked if there will be space available in certain classes for the following year. Until current parents inform us (in March) of their intention to return, we do not know the answer to this question. Regardless of whether the class currently has space, or does not have space, we highly recommend that you complete your application before the beginning of March so that your child can be considered for any space that becomes available.
