Activities for Upper School Students

ISP offers an extensive extra-curricular program to our upper school students; click on the expanding lists below for details about the activities offered.

Sign-up for activties occurs during the activities fair at the beginning of each school year. Sign-up for sporting activities takes place prior to the beginning of each season.

Sporting activities for Upper School Students

ISP runs three seasons of sports. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting activities throughout the school year. Sign ups begin prior to the beginning of the season via the Upper School bulletin. Please click here for information of the sports on offer.

ISP recreational Activities


The Fitness room is available for Upper School students to use throughout the day and during after school time. Orientations to the equipment are covered in PE classes.


Table Tennis

Table Tennis runs once a week year round and is open to all students of all abilities. Students can come to play recreationaly or compete in our local inter schools competition.



Badminton runs once a week during the first trimester and is open to all students of all abilities. Students can come to play recreationaly or compete in our local inter schools competition.

Presentation and Debate Activities

Model United Nations (MUN)

MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. Students role play countries and attempt to represent their views in formal debate of international issues. Our MUN group meets once a week after school to discuss relevant topics and to prepare for MUN conferences. The conferences that we participate in are SAIMUN in Dublin Ireland, Yale Model Government Europe here in Prague and Georgetown MUN in Qatar Doha.


Speech and Debate

Speech and Debate meet twice a week after school and are involved in competitions around the region. We participate in events hosted by the Central Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) , the New European Speech Debate and Acting Association (NESDA) and also locally hosted events.


TEDx is a student led organization. The activity is geared towards a culminating presentations at a recognised TEDx event in the fall hosted by ISP. Meetings are once a week.

Service Oriented Activities

ISP Activities Association (ISPAA)

The ISPAA is a student led organisation that helps plan, organise and keep our community and Alumni up to date on the student activities at ISP. Follow them on the ISPAA facebook page.

The National Honor Society (NHS)

The NHS is an International organization dedicated to the academic, personal and interpersonal growth of young individuals. Our chapter of the NHS works primarily to plan projects, raise awareness, and bridge the separate sections of our school into a cohesive and interactive community. In the past, our members have participated in student tutoring, AIDS and Breast Cancer awareness campaigns, as well as an extensive history project display of the International School of Prague , the city and the country. The NHS is now shifting their focus towards the integration of the International and Czech communities. Through exchange programs and planned visits, we hope to broaden our school’s horizons and demonstrate the importance of cross-cultural understanding.

Coalition Green

Coalition Green is a student-led organization devoted to improving our school's awareness of environmental issues by sponsoring events like Earth Week and taking care of a green house on the school property. We also try to implement better recycling and reusing habits amongst teachers and students. The club meets once a week each Wednesday at lunch time. It is a branch of the Community Service Club. 

Community Service Club 

Community Service Club is a group of service-minded students who like to create a sense of community in ISP and in Prague by sponsoring events, making trips to local refugee centers, and, in general, helping wherever needed. Projects have included singing in local hospitals, teaching English to children at a refugee center downtown, and raising money for tsunami victims. Students have raised money with bake sales, candy grams, and candy jar guesses. CSC club tends to start projects that branch into their own student-led groups. 


Cultural Activities

Czech Language and Culture

This group meets once a week after school to learn about the language and rich culture of our host country.

Russian Club

This club meets once a week after school to learn the about Russian Language and Culture


Arts Activities

Drama Productions

The school puts on two drama productions a year. Rehearsals are as laid out by the drama director. Audition details are communicated through the school bulletin.


Our band participate in the Central Easten European Choir Festival. Please talk with the Band Director about getting involved.

Jazz Band

Come and jam with the ensemble. Please talk with the Band Director about getting involved.

Art Studio Time

Our art room is open three times a week and teacher available for those wishing to hone their artistic skills.


Technical Activities


Our Robotics Team meet once a week after school and we send a representative group to participate in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Tech challenge

The International Award (formerly known as Duke of Edinburgh)

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (referred to as ‘the Award’) is open to 14-24-year-olds and encourages young people to design their own programme of activities over time, set their own goals and challenge themselves. The Award is about personal development and involves our students in a range of experiences from camp craft to service work. More information can be found at the International Award Website.

Maths Club

The team meet once a week during the second trimester. They compete in events run by Central Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA)  and also the American Math competition

ISP Affiliated Activities

The activities below are offered by organisations within Prague and are open to our student community. We have affiliation by allowing them use of our facilities or through previous relationships with ISP families and programs.


Quang Kung Fu

Traditional martial arts teaching of Shao Lin Kung Fu takes place at ISP Fridays after school. ES classes run from 3 to 4pm and MS/US classes from 4 to 5pm. Please refer to the Quang Kung Fu Website for contact and more details.


Stage Stars

Stage Stars is an organization that strives to offer high quality  education and experience for children ages 5-18 in theater, film and movement discipline and general artistic impression involved in performance. They run activities after school and on weekends at ISP. Please refer to the Stage Stars Website for contact details and more information.


Ballroom Dancing

Ballroom Dance classes are run once a week after school. Information can be obtained from the student notice boards or ask at the activties office.
