Activities for Middle School Students

The Middle School is a great age for students to really explore their passions, and ISP offers a wide range of after-school activities.

Middle School Sports Activities

ISP runs three seasons of sports. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting activities throughout the school year. Sign ups begin prior to the beginning of the season via the middle school bulletin. Please click here for information of the sports on offer.

Arts Activities

Speech and Debate

Students practice their presentation and debate skills at the Speech and Debate club. They meet once a week for the first two trimesters of school. SIgn up information will appear in the bulletin.

Break Dance

Learn to breakdance from our Dance professional. The dance class meets once a week after school and ends with a culminating performance at the Dance show late January. Sign up information will appear in the Bulletin.

Modern Contemporary Dance

Students will be taught the basics of contemporary modern dance techniques. This lesson will focus on developing the right posture alignment, improving physical dispositions, working on clear body language and getting sensitive to music.
As a part of theatrical practice, students will perform for ISP students and parents in Landau theater. 

 The Dance class meets once a week after school and ends with a culminating performance at the Dance show late January. Sign up information will appear in the Bulletin.

Glee Club

Our Glee club is a vocal group formed to sing ‘ show choir’. They meet once a week in the first trimester and are often called upon for various choral presentations. Interested in singing? Then this is the club for you. Sign up information will appear in the Bulletin.

CEESA Choir

Our Choir participate in the Central Easten European Choir Festival. Please talk with the Choir Director about getting involved.

Drama Production

The middle school drama performance is an opportunity for students to develop their theatre and performance skills. Auditions and rehearsals begin early January and depending upon parts rehearsals can be as many as 4 days a week leading up to the performance. Audition and sign up information will be in the MS Bulletin.

 

Technical/Educational Activities

Robotics

Robotics combines engineering with programming. This activity runs year round and meets once a week. ISP uses the Lego Mindstorm equipment and participates in local competitions. Sign up information will appear in the Bulletin.

Mathcounts

Mathcounts is a maths club that meets once a week after school for a trimester as well as being an exploratory option. As well as challenging individuals with Maths problems students get the opportunity to represent ISP at the CEESA Mathcounts competition The MATHCOUNTS Competition Program is a  middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests. Speak to your Maths teacher about getting involved.

Woodwork

Students participating in this woodwork class meet once a week for a trimester. After hammering out ideas about what to build they create useful and attractive objects from wood. Sign up information will appear in the Bulletin.

Guided Study

Guided study is held once a week during the second trimester. This is an opportunity for students to manage their work with the support of a teacher. Please speak to your advisor about joining.

Student Council (STUCO)

STUCO meet once a week, they discuss issues related to the middle school student body and assist in the organisation of MS events.

ISP Parent led Activities

Youth Baseball Prague

Youth Baseball Prague is a program designed to introduce the sport of baseball to the international community of Prague.  Our goal is to teach children the fundamentals of baseball while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.  We invite all boys and girls ages 5 to 12 to join us and experience the FUN of baseball. The program runs in the spring and sign up information will go out in the parent contact.

Jaros Football

Jaros Football is a year round activity open for boys and girls grades KG to 8. Children are taught the basics of the game with an emphasis on enjoyment and activity. Information regarding sign up will be in the parent contact.

ISP Affiliated Activities

The activities below are offered by organisations within Prague and are open to our student community. We have affiliation by allowing them use of our facilities or through previous relationships with ISP families and programs.

Quang Kung Fu

Traditional martial arts teaching of Shao Lin Kung Fu takes place at ISP Fridays after school. ES classes run from 3 to 4pm and MS/US classes from 4 to 5pm. Please refer to the Quang Kung Fu Website for more details or email on quangkungfu70@gmail.com.

Stage Stars

Stage Stars is an organization that strives to offer high quality  education and experience for children ages 5-18 in theater, film and movement discipline and general artistic impression involved in performance. They run activities after school and on weekends at ISP. Please refer to the Stage Stars Website for contact details and more information.
